Paranormal Files: Enjoy the Shopping Collectors Edition

Elephant Games proudly present the next exciting case in their new series Paranormal Files! Rick Rogers is back for another case, and this time he’s going undercover as a security guard to investigate a series of strange paranormal events at the local mall. Can Rick figure out what’s been causing the other guards to have mental breakdowns, or will he lose his own mind in the process? Find out in this dark hidden-object puzzle adventure game!

Sound is good. Paranormal Files: Enjoy the Shopping is consistently entertaining from beginning to end. It seems like the devs just needed to get a game out so they bare boned it. Paranormal Files is a great series and even though this is only the third game in the series, all of them have been excellent. There are 13 replayable HOPs and mini-games to replay if you want to do them again. Even if all else fails, at least Paranormal Files: Enjoy the Shopping still has an interesting plot. So do you buy the CE or SE? The HOPS are something I found excellent in the game as the items to find were not shrouded in mist or indistinguishable. The game purely focuses on the HOPA gameplay and includes no gadgets or helpers, which I personally appreciate especially since the it is executed so well. The 12 figures are very easy to spot. The same goes with the hidden object scenes and the puzzles — straightforward, yet quite creative. The gameplay is nothing groundbreaking, but there are just enough unconventional elements to throw the predictability off balance a little. All up the game and bonus took me about 4 hours to do, not skipping or hinting anything. The mini-games are mostly all very easy, except for the necklace where you have to get the beads in the right places. The last two security guards were so traumatized, they had to be transferred to a mental facility Both guards mumbled the same thing in a catatonic state, the mannequins are alive!

The game delivers the horror elements fairly well through mini jump scares and an eerie environment too. Get 'em shopping! It is just the length that bugged me. Perhaps Elephant had a larger budget to work with because they didn't cut corners with this installment or the previous two games either. Well since this is another Paranormal Files game, the go to fixer is Rick Rogers. The eyes had a fairly good challenge because they were small and some scenes were dark to find them. This is an average length chapter with 9 scene locations containing 8 Mini-Games and 6 Hidden Object Scenes. When you have collected so many of them, then you can do a HOP in the Extras and can better your time. The items are nicely blended into the scenery and the scenes are very clear with items that are easily identifiable. I disliked the story line which I thought was strange and I have never ever warmed to the mannequins coming alive - really! I disliked that mini-game because I thought the graphics were horrible and it was hard to decipher where to put them.
