I love these types of games. On the hardest level, there is no skip. Map is interactive, so even though there may be quite a bit of back and forth, it is not a chore. Scenes are not too crowded and objects are clearly visible though many are well disguised. On casual, the skip rate is rather fast. While the main storyline is pretty entertaining, the backstory and events that happened after that failed to impress us. Sound: My puppy is now 7 weeks old she was rescued at 6 weeks so I kept the sound to a minimum. Enough rooms that it seems to be an average-length game. There is a map which comes in handy. Wrong, everything about this house is so very wrong, so very haunted! The mini games are pretty easy, definitely not frustration such as completing a painting by using the clues given on a patterned picture. The hint button is in the form of the haunted house you are in. And it recharges faster than I've ever seen Tales of Terror: House on the Hill recharge before. And it continues through the game play. Read the journal, because it adds a bit of backstory as you play. The "skip" button takes a definite while to charge. The beginning of the game starts out in a creepy and fun way, and the tone Slot Quest: The Museum Escape the whole experience continues from there.

The ending at least in the standard edition that I played is also a bit unfulfilling. I actually gave up on the first mini-game getting a key to the lock on the opposite side of the board, which is very unusual for me. Even without the bells and whistles of the Collectors Edition, this is still an over the top game about a house with attitude that feeds upon it's unsuspecting victims phobias. When all the items are found and the token is completed, the token will fit into a slot to open up a secret compartment. There's very little character development of the other members of the group, and your notebook will skip ahead to things you haven't even seen yet. The games were easy to challenging and varied.

Date published: Rated 5 out of 5 by mlw14 from Loved playing this game! Great graphics, sound. You will come across characters who need your help. I particularly enjoyed the action sequences and the visual effects that went into constructing some of the different rooms in the house. I anticipate a longish game as the map shows a first and second floor as well as a basement. Minigames are varied but not too challenging, and you'll complete each hidden object scene twice. Actors are motion captured and lip synched, which for the most part looks great.

  5. You haven't seen your sister, Hope since college and she loves the paranormal, so a haunted house tour sounds like the perfect gift, right? This game will touch upon just about every phobia out there, so beware, there are going to be spiders and snakes, fire and brimstone! When all the items are found and the token is completed, the token will fit into a slot to open up a secret compartment. I began playing Nancy Drew games years ago.

  6. Even without the bells and whistles of the Collectors Edition, this is still an over the top game about a house with attitude that feeds upon it's unsuspecting victims phobias. Let's overcome our fears and starve this evil house, enjoy! All of that said, I really liked the spirit of this and it was a blast to play.

This game is similar, with very few hidden object scenes, a good amount of puzzles, and a fair amount of dialogue. It was so fun it was over to quickly. The mansion is stunningly beautiful from the outside.

  8. That is my favorite style of game. When all the items are found and the token is completed, the token will fit into a slot to open up a secret compartment. The HOGs are moderately easy.
