The style's different and entertaining. This is a relaxing HO game, so super-sleuth gamers may find it much too tame. The potions were a nice touch but not very difficult at all. In fact, it may even be considered too easy. It's easy but entertaining. The background and characters were nicely done and eye catching but I had to quit after the hour. Hidding of the objects was very clever. My mind or my eyes. Performing the spells is an excellent way to reinforce their reading and interpretation skills while indulging their dreams of studying at Hogwarts school of magic. The potions are simple to create, involving only a few steps, and you barely have to hunt around the kitchen, as only the ingredients you'll be using for each recipe will be highlighted. You quickly learn that creating potions requires hunting for items in beautifully-drawn hidden object scenes.

This doesn't take very long but I found I didn't need to use many hints at all. The gnome characters have a sense of humor and the drawings are whimsical fun. Those that truly want to hunt and think with every game they play - this won't be for you. Definitely Kid Friendly although adults may find the puzzle solving aspects too easy. But when life is already stressful, this is a good way to unwind. The scenes go by so fast you're always ready for one more. Hints are unlimited but you have to wait for the gnome to wake up before requesting another one. This game is not for fans of the extreme. The plot's cute too. The graphics are incredible and the quiet harp music lends itself very nicely to the atmosphere of the game. Potions were fun to make and the music very enjoyable. I personally love the game but had to quit after level two as it didn't provide enough of a challenge to keep me interested but will definitely recommend this one for kids and new HOG players or fantasy lovers. Why, you of course. It could have been a little less potion finding and more object finding but a good game in all.
